Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren Episode 4

Classic Dekomori Sanae and Nibutani Shinka

First anime impression post!  This is the second season of Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai! and I really enjoy this series.

To give a quick rundown on the series itself, its a slice of life and comedy anime about a high school student named Yuuta Togashi who, during junior high, suffered from Chuunibyou, or adolescent delusions.  In other words, Yuuta had immersed himself through his imagination thinking he was the "Dark Flame Master" throughout junior high school and now he wants to forget everything and start a new, normal high school life.  That is until he met Rikka Takanashi whom she still lives in her delusional world.

Now, onto this current episode which currently aired.  Again, this is episode 4 from the second season.  In this episode, Shinka Nibutani, who also suffered from Chuunibyou in junior high, had decided to run for Student Council to further indulge herself in her normal ordinary high school life she wants just like Yuuta Togashi.  Of course, there is the problem of Sanae Dekomori getting in her way because she refuses to believe Nibutani is "Mori Summer", the person whom she respects and admires.  It wasn't until Satone Shichimiya showed up and reunites with Nibutani since they used to go to the same junior high school together.  Shichimiya is also currently going through Chuunibyou so she still sees Nibutani as "Mori Summer" and herself as "Sophia Ring SP Saturn VII".  After showing a photo of her and Nibutani in the past, Dekomori confirms the unique arm glove Mori Summer wears and now believes Nibutani was indeed Mori Summer.

Sophia and Mori Summer when they were in junior high
Ever since the revelation, Dekomori turns a new face and respects Nibutani, while Nibutani insists she would stop referring her as Mori Summer, claiming she wants to keep it a secret from the school.  Nibutani seizes the opportunity to have Dekomori help her with the Student Council elections since she is very popular among the freshmans.  Signs of Rikka being jealous and helpless rises when she sees Dekomori, her "Servant", going with Nibutani instead of her.  Dekomori goes to Nibutani's house to help her with her speech.  It was there where Nibutani realizes that Dekomori is a really good and nice person and decides to show herself as Mori Summer in front of her.  Dekomori was overwhelmed with emotions which also gets to Nibutani and they both cried together.

The Student Council election speeches starts and Dekomori will be speaking for Nibutani.  She mentions that she altered the speech a bit and continues on to the podium.  As she starts her speech, Nibutani discovers the book she had created as Mori Summer, Mabinogion, was with Dekomori.  Dekomori takes the heavy book out and begins to read it to everyone.  Nibutani was in huge disbelief until she screams and starts rolling on the stage floor denying everything she's hearing.  This resulted in her dropping out of the election and Dekomori concludes that Nibutani was indeed an impostor because she could not handle the contents of the Mabinogion and reunites with Rikka.

Poor Nibutani.  All she wanted was a normal high school life

This episode was highly focused on Nibutani, which was nice because there really aren't that many episodes about her, even from last season.  We see her character traits more in this episode and a little bit of her past.  You can tell that she really just wants to live a normal life and forget about her past.  You can tell she does enjoy being with everyone.  The connection she had with Shichimiya, or Sophia, I kind of half expected it.  She knew both Togashi and Nibutani in junior high and now she had reappeared in their lives once more, except now both Togashi and Nibutani wants to leave those embarrassing memories behind.  The rivalry between Nibutani and Dekomori is still going on, but I'm sure despite everything they do to each other they do care for each other.  It's not the first time you see a serious and kind Dekomori.  It almost seems like there are two Dekomoris'.  The same can be said to Nibutani as well.  Overall, I feel that this episode was a good episode.  I'm sure they'll go more into the other characters now too.  Really interested on kind of background Shichimiya has.
