About

Hello!  Welcome to Sypmphonic Reverie.  This blog started between me (Hibiki Snow) and my aibou 相棒(partner), Linlinster.  This blog will focus whatever we find is interesting or worth mentioning.  Topics would mostly fall under anime and video games, but we will also do other interests like music, fashion, technology, and beauty.  These are all things we always wanted to do and we hope you will find them entertaining and enjoyable.

I'm not the best of writers but I do want to improve.  I guess doing something like this would help with that.  I always wanted to share my thoughts and interests, that being anime and video games, and doing it by writing it out kind of makes it feel like a journal too.  I'm very carefree and usually go with the flow which can be proven bad in some cases.  I played the violin for over 10 years but that's without a private teacher so I'm only decent at best.  I wished I'd put more effort into it because I do love the violin but I find myself rather play video games or watch anime haha.  I recently started to play bass guitar, 3 years in now.  I always loved the sound of the bass guitar, with Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers being my biggest inspiration.  But, embarrassingly enough, what really made me take that leap into investing in a bass was K-ON.  I know.  But I have no regrets! I love the bass and I really should be playing more of it!

I also love playing mahjong, with the Japanese rule set of course.  Its so fun I used to have mahjong sessions.  And yes I did watch Akagi and Saki.  I really want an automatic mahjong table.  They look insanely cool.  Ah just talking about it makes me want to play now!

I have a good amount of anime and manga I watch and read under my belt.  I try to keep MyAnimeList up to date so feel free to compare.  My favorite series that comes to mind are Minami-Ke, Clannad, Hyakko, Baccano, Durarara, Higashi no Eden, Gin no Saji, Spice & Wolf, K-ON, Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha, Angel Beats, Baka to Test to Shokanju, Dangan Ronpa, Katanagatari, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Lucky Star, Houkago Play, White Album, Ichigo Mashimaro, Rurouni Kenshin, Nisekoi, Fairy Tail, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, Air, Genshiken, and Bakemonogatari.

Visual Novels are something that I also really love.  There are some that you just have to play, and compared to the anime, most if not all do a much better job.  The ones I've played that I feel left a great impact are Clannad, Little Busters!, Ef - A tale of memories, Tears of Tiara, Tsukihime, Narcissu, Katawa Shoujo, Planetarium: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume, Kagetsu Tohya, and Cross Channel.

Now if I'm not watching anime, I'm usually playing video games.  I play all kinds of games, from platformers to first person shooters.  I played a lot of MMORPGs and they really do suck my life away.  Some video game titles that I enjoy are Threads of Fate, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Monster Hunter, The Last of Us, Final Fantasy, BlazBlue, Street Fighter, UMvC3, Arcana Heart 3, Persona 3 Portable, Person 4 Arena, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Melee/Brawl, Bastion and Journey.  I've mentioned some fighting games in that list and it's because I love fighting games.  I used to play competitively and enter tournaments in conventions but I haven't done so in years.  Even then, I owned about five fightsticks at one point and sold 2 of them.  One of my current sticks is custom modded and another is dual modded.  Even today I still play fighting games and I can talk about frame data, balance changes, and tier lists for hours.

Aside from all the otaku nerdy things I do, I like playing soccer, tennis, and volleyball, but mostly tennis.  I also like watching movies and tv shows.  But probably my favorite thing to do is discovering new places to eat.  I love trying out new food and eating out, although my wallet hates me for it.

Hey everyone! I'm Lin! I'm 22 years old. If you haven't gotten wind by now, I love a lot of the subjects we talk about on this blog, especially video games. Though I don't have a lot of experience with writing articles, I'm loving it so far! I have experience with writing fiction, but writing articles seems charming and fun.

I love art and creating things, even if I may not be great at it. I paint, draw (pencil and digital), crochet, loom, and knit. Sometimes if I really like what I did, I might post it on here! Woohoo! Besides physical art, I've played a variety of instruments. I've played the piano, viola, guitar, and bass before, but my one true and final calling came from the harp. I really didn't have any other inspiration to play it other than the harp being the most beautiful instrument I've ever heard and seen. When its sounds soothed my soul, I knew it was love.

I also handle beauty and fashion for the laaaaadies out there! *eyebrow wiggle* Most of the year my fashion typically Lolita based, either Natural, Casual, or Sweet Lolita. Sometimes even Mori Girl! I love to wear dresses, usually poofy (petticoats and bloomers, you see?). However, in the winter my fashion turns toward the more plain side...it's too cold for dresses!! When it comes to beauty, I like to focus on skin and hair as well as makeup tips and tricks. I'm a firm believer that natural remedies that you can make in your own home are the best kind. And even if I may not be the prettiest of all people, I hope to make YOU pretty. :D

Besides video games and anime, like to play both American and European board games such as Dominion, Ascension, Arkham Horror, Taboo, Cranium, and Go...and like card-based games like Magic: The Gathering or Hearthstone and even pen-and-paper based roleplaying like Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder!!

When I was young, my parents didn't really teach me what to do in tough situations or how to be myself. They kind of expected me to just do it all myself. Sadly, though fortunately, anime and video games were my teachers of life when I was young. Anime and video game characters were my role models, not real people. Along a number of things, they taught me how to be accepting of others, how to diffuse situations, how to look inside and pull who I want to be out of myself. It's no wonder that these two types of media are so close to my heart. They really saved me from being a huge bitch. :>

Outlaw Star, Hunter x Hunter, Witch Hunter Robin, Chrono Crusade, Full Metal Alchemist, Tower of Druaga, Durarara!, Elfen Lied, Yakitate Japan!, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Sword Art Online (season 1), Shingeki no Kyojin, Lucky Star, Hataraku Mao-sama, Servant x Service, Little Busters! and Gin no Saji are some of my favorite anime, though I'm sure I missed a few here and there.

I love video games. It doesn't matter what genre it is, as long as it is fun, I will play it. I love something light hearted like Viva Pinata or something dark and scary like Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Here are some video games that will always stick with me: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Shadow of the Colossus, Team Fortress 2, Pokemon (nuff said), Halo, Rune Factory series, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros, Melee and Brawl, Half-Life 2, Valkyria Chronicles, Ragnarok Online, Journey, Bastion, Final Fantasy IX, Threads of Fate, Fire Emblem series, Monster Hunter 2 and 3 U, The Last of Us, Mario Kart 64, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Sims 2, and Sid Meier's Civilivation V.

When doing reviews, I use this rating system.  Please read it over to understand how I rate games and anime. As of February 2014, I use is the Blue Snowball USB Mic and use Afterglow AGU.1S headset to listen and edit those audios. I also stream occasionally and you can find me at justin.tv/linlinster!!
